SDP urges Singaporeans to cooperate on SARS
23 April 2003

As the SARS epidemic continues to take its toll on Singapore and the world, the SDP urges Singaporeans who have been infected and those under quarantine to cooperate with the authorities so that the situation can be brought under control.

While it is acknowledged that stringent measures need to be taken in order to combat the spread of the virus, the SDP warns the Government not to take advantage of the situation to further curtail civil liberties and rights of the people.

The SDP takes this opportunity to offer its condolences and heartfelt sympathy to those who have lost their loved ones to this terrible affliction. We would also like to commend our healthcare professionals who risk much in their frontline roles to contain the disease as well as to help those who have contracted it.
